November is the perfect time to pause. Before the rush of winter arrives, we invite you to breathe in the immensity. This Forest Bathing & Yoga Retreat (November 21–23) takes place on the edge of the Irati Forest, the second-largest beech and fir forest in Europe.
Guided by a Psychologist and Yogi with 40 years of experience, this is not just a walk in the woods. It is a scientifically proven method to lower cortisol and reset your nervous system.
Why Irati changes you
- 17,000 Hectares of Life: The sheer scale of this forest acts as a perspective shifter. Walking among centuries-old trees bathed in amber and gold creates a “natural cathedral” effect that quiets the mind instantly.
- Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku): We practice this Japanese art of “soaking in the forest atmosphere.” It is not hiking; it is a slow, sensory immersion. The phytoncides (natural oils) released by the trees boost your immune system and mood.
- The Sanctuary: We stay at Casa Marterena, a 13th-century palace in Arrieta. Thick stone walls, warm rooms, and a safe space to process the silence of the forest.
- Restorative Yoga: Gentle practices and Yoga Nidra designed to complement the forest work, releasing deep-seated tension.
- Nourishment: Ayurvedic-inspired vegetarian cuisine. Warm, organic “spoon dishes” to ground you during the cooler season.
Retreat Schedule
Sunday: Yoga, deep relaxation, brunch, and closing circle.
Friday: Arrival, grounding, and Welcome Yoga & Meditation.
Saturday: Full immersion in the Irati Forest (Shinrin-Yoku), mindful picnic, restorative dinner, and Satsang.
