There are moments when nature leaves you speechless. The second weekend of October marks the absolute peak of autumn in the Irati Forest, the second-largest beech-fir forest in Europe. This Yoga Retreat (October 10–12) is your exclusive invitation to witness this explosion of color—not as a tourist, but as part of the forest, through stillness and awareness.
Guided by a Psychologist (Saint Louis University graduate) and Yogi with 40 years of experience, we will immerse ourselves in the season of “letting go.” Just as the forest sheds the old with breathtaking beauty, you will learn to release mental and emotional tension to renew yourself.
Why is this the best weekend to visit the Pyrenees?
- The Medieval Palace (13th Century): You will stay at Casa Marterena, a fortified medieval palace. While the air turns crisp outside, inside you will find the warmth of home, deep silence, and cozy spaces designed for rest.
- Immersion in the “Golden Fall”: We dedicate a full day to entering the Irati Forest. We will practice Mindful Hiking (Shinrin-Yoku) among ancient beech trees dressed in gold and red. A visual and sensory therapy that calms deep anxiety.
- Autumn Yoga: Hatha and Kundalini Yoga practices focused on the Metal element (lungs and large intestine). We work on deep breathing and eliminating toxins to boost the immune system for winter.
- Sound & Silence: Sessions of Gong and Shamanic Drumming vibrate with special power in autumn, helping to tune your internal rhythm with the earth’s pause.
- Comfort Food: Full-board organic vegetarian cuisine. Enjoy warming spoon dishes, pumpkin soups, root vegetables, and produce from our garden that nourish the spirit.
